The Ping G5 Driver may become the most popular club ever to come out of the Ping factory. Following from the outstanding and forgiving G2 the G5 offers even more playability and forgiveness.

Still very similar in shape to the G2 model Ping engineers have managed to move eight grams of weight from the crown and face to the sole giving a lower centre of gravity. New face geometry ensures high ball speed for maximum distance. Similar in shape to the popular G2 driver, the confidence-inspiring head provides forgiveness and includes a thinner moon-graphic alignment aid.

The Ping G5 also offers different loft options over the G2. The lower spin rates allowed the engineers to increase the available lofts (7.5, 9, 10.5, 12 and 13.5) to ensure golfers are fitted to the proper launch angle.

The G5 is a club that any standard of golfer could have in there bag from high handicappers to tour pro\'s. The versatility of the club makes it an absolute gem!

Could the G5 Driver possibly be better than the previous G2? Well here is what we thought…

The G5 driver looks very similar to the G2, even to the point it has the same colour scheme so when place side by side the differences don’t exactly jump out at you. Fortunately as we the liked the shape of the G2 driver and due to its undoubted success we can see why they have kept it similar.

However when we started hitting balls on test the G5 driver really shines. The shift in weight from the crown to the sole really gives the G5 driver an arc shaped ball flight which in turn produced fantastic distances. The head felt very forgiving so there is no doubt this club will work in the hands of every standard of golfer. The G5 model is also available in an offset option which is great news for the slicers out there as this will help promote a right to left ball flight. Shaft options are the Ping TFC 100/ Aldila NV and the Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue. As we have stated before the shafts will make a difference to the balls trajectory and overall flight so its important to try the different loft and shaft combinations to get the set up just for you!
