Putters
gallery/1299598489_1291221101_shgc_header_edited-1.jpgIt’s all about the “feel” of a putter. You might have to try a few different putters until you find the right one for you. If it feels right, gives you confidence and helps you get the ball in the hole then it might just be the right one for you! Putters come in many shapes and sizes with different head materials, head designs, and grips.

Grips and weight are also factors with major impact on feel and consequently how you perform with the putter. Having a thicker grip might help prevent wrist bend, but a thicker grip won't feel right for everyone. Weight is also entirely a personal preference and so is the actual length of your putter.

Here at Second-Hand-Golf-Clubs.co.uk we’ve produced some videos to show you the many options available in putters. It might take you some time to find a putter with that elusive “feel” but if you want to rid yourself of the fatal 3 putt you’ll be wise to certainly make the time!

Product Guide Videos | Choosing The Right Putter

Putter Styles and Designs
  • Choosing the right putter can be very tricky as there are so many different styles to select from. Face insert putters are some of the most popular as they provide a softer feel at impact and are great to use on faster greens. Non face insert putters can provide a firmer feel of the face giving more responsive feedback and feel to the hands that can also help with distance control. Some non insert putters now feature groove technology across the face that helps prevent skid at impact helping the ball to get rolling in a shorter distance.
    • Choosing what putter head design is one of the hardest decisions to make as there is a never ending selection. The most common and tradition shape is the blade design or often referred to as the 'Anser' shape. This heel and toe weighted design is most suited to 'in to out' putting strokes. Mallet putters are now more popular than ever before as they offer more forgiveness and help with alignment. Mallet designs are best suited to 'straight back and through' putting strokes.
