Ping i15 Irons are designed for the golfers who require more shot shape control. This is helped by the i15's smaller head design, particularly in the shorter irons that require low to mid trajectory and ball flight. The irons then get progressively larger as the set moves into the longer irons where more forgiveness is needed to help launch the the ball higher for soft landing shots into greens.
Ping have introduced a CTP or custom tuning port along with dual stabilising bars into the i15 irons. This helps give the club head greater stability whilst ensuring the centre of gravity is placed to help create a ball flight desired by the more acomplished golfer.
A tungsten weight has been located into the toe of the i15 irons to help create a perfect balance between forgiveness without compromising workability.
Staff Review: PING i15 Irons
Look and Feel: On first impressions we really like the idea of a progressive set with the shorter irons offering a smaller head design and the longer irons with a little extra muscle to help boost the confidence, especially when staring down at a 3 iron. The short irons are nice and compact which are very pleasing on the eye. Ping have certainly mastered the art of creating a soft feeling cast club as they feel powerful yet delicate on the hands at impact.
Ball Flight: The shorter irons as promised by Ping do give a mid launch whilst the longer irons with their bigger head design are easy enough to launch. The bigger heads in the longer irons did offer an extra level of forgiveness but still require good quality ball striking to get the maximum from them.
Overall: With Ping i15 irons offering a progressive head design throughout the set this opens up the market a great deal from improving mid handicap golfers all the way through to the scratch and tour players.
