The first Hybrid club from Ping is the Ping G5 hybrid. The G5 hybrid sets the standard with its small compact stainless steel design and low centre of gravity (CG) the G5 hybrid is one of the most forgiving clubs on the market. Using similar technology found in the G5 fairway, the 455 stainless steel machined face will give amazing distance from almost any lie. The sloped back crown design on the G5 hybrid helps set the centre of gravity low and further back in the head enabling you to hit a higher ball flight for more control when the ball hits the green.
The Ping G5 hybrid comes in 4 loft options 16, 19, 22 and 25 degree lofts. The G5 hybrid comes as standard with either Ping TFC 100H shaft or the Aldila NV Hybrid shaft.
Ping G5 Utility Club: Staff Review
The first utility club from Ping is now in stock so let’s see what all the hype is about. The Ping G5 utility club at first glance is a very small and compact head design that s sits very nicely at address. Even though the G5 utility is small in head design it really packs a punch at impact and you get a very solid feel from the 455 stainless steel construction.
We even took the G5 utility out onto the turf and hit some shots out of less than ideal lies but the club performed just as promised so its fair to say the Ping G5 utility will certainly get you out of trouble.
As Ping are the masters of custom fitting the G5 utility is available in 3 shaft options: The TFC 100/Aldila NV and Grafalloy Pro Launch blue. All will change the ball flight slightly so selecting the correct one is important. We found the shafts had the following influences on the ball flight
TFC 100 – Mid/High Launch
Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue – High Launch
Aldila – Mid Launch
We found the Ping G5 Utility to be a fantastic addition to the ping range of clubs. For anybody that struggles acheiving length from the fairway or semi then this club is a must to try and we are certain you will be impressed.
