Callaway Utility clubs first entered the market in 2006 with the Callaway Heavenwood utility club. The aim was to replace the hard to hit long irons with a versatile half wood half iron replacement. The Callaway Heavenwood proved to be a winner and paved the way for many more utility designs. Soon after Callaway placed there fusion technology into the FT-3 fusion utility clubs, the multi material head enabled them to move weight were its needed most and offer neutral and draw bias head options.
Callaway’s X series technology have been used in the growing range of utility clubs. In 2007/8 the Callaway X Hybrid was launched offering a unique modified X sole design that helped cut through turf and rough with ease. With increased perimeter weighting it proved to the most forgiving Callaway utility club to date.
For the 2008/9 season Callaway engineers recreated the latest Fusion technology and formulated the Callaway FT Fusion utility clubs. Incorporating a dual runner sole design and strategically placed tungsten weights create a forgiving and long hitting utility club.
