The all new Titleist 909H Hybrid is new for the 2009 Golf season and already in the Tour bags US Tour players bags such as Adam Scott, Zach Johnson and European stars Ross Fisher and Pablo Larrazabal.
Each Titleist 909H Hybrid is constructed with a precision cast 17-4 Stainless Steel body and 455 Carpenter Steel face insert for increased ball speed and a lively feel. The tour proven, modern profile provides a deeper Centre of Gravity for better stability.
The tour proven head shape, size and minimal offset help create golfers to work the ball flight and trajectory just like the top Professionals.
The new shiny Titleist 909H Hybrid is in stock so here is what we made of it out on the range. In our opinion, Titleist has never really been at the forefront of utility/Hybrid technology. The previous 585.H was ok, small and compact but never really set us alight. However the new 909H hybrid looks a little more of a gem and carries the looks of the 909 range in it’s appearance, crisp, clean and very hittable. The small compact head sits very nicely behind the ball of the ground and even from a small tee peg.
The simplistic approach to the design of the Titleist 909H hybrid makes it an absolute winner, it looks great at address and when you strike it you get the pure feel and more distance with a high rising soft landing flight. The 19 degree version that we tested was a great success, very similar in distance to a standard 5 wood but had a more penetrating trajectory so more versatile in the wind. The 909H is aimed at the better golfer but it still has that element of forgiveness, so all in all we vote this classic shaped hybrid from Titleist a must for serious golfers. (SHGC)
